The cup holder snaps up and out. Then you'll see the 4
Phillips screws that hold the rear portion of the center console in.
Removing the 2 front console screws.
Removing the rear 2 console screws.
There are hooks at the front where the rear part overlaps
the front part. Lift up carefully to disengage them.
Unplug the wires under the front. There is a clip you need
to press.
The switch will pop up and out to allow easier access to
the wire connector.
Unplug the cigarette lighter and lighter light wires
To disconnect the shift cable, pry out the two wire clips
at the side and lift the sleeve out of the rectangular cable end.
Pry the ball sleeve end off the stock shifter. Snap the
ball sleeve onto the B&M shifter.
Use the B&M lube to lube up the pivot points.
Lubed and ready to install.
Reinstalling the shims. They control how tight the ball
socket is.
Put the big washer behind the spring.
Putting the long bolt through the ball cover.
We measured a 1" reduction in shift knob travel with
the B&M short shifter installed.
Stock travel was about 3 1/2", B&M travel was 2
1/2" travel.
Effort is not hard or stiff feeling at all.
Ready to put the console back together.
The B&M shift knob installed.
The threads on the B&M shifter are the same thread
pattern (10mm x 1.25) as the stock shifter. But the stock shift knob has
the threads too deep up in the knob to work properly with the B&M
shifter. You can also use just about any other aftermarket shift knob.
