Cylinder #4

The cylinders have been bored out to .040" oversize.

Normally we would not go past .020" ovesize.

This block can not be further bored to clean up the cylinder walls.

The Allen head plug at the top left of the picture is the source of one of the many oil leaks.

Other leaks are from the incorrect bolts in the oil pump plate. They are too long and are bottomed out before they can fully tighten down.

Also the cam seals were leaking.

$435 a pair (cheapest EVO Cams available)

Dual valve springs and titanium retainers
Cylinder head sealing surface.

Overly rough machining (lines from the cutter)

The head surface needs to be almost mirror like for the metal head gasket to seal properly.

Rough head surface imprinted onto head gasket
Rough head surface finish pressed through the head gasket and onto the block sealing surface.

Combustion chamber #1

Looks like the cylinder head was completely replaced after the sparkplug incident.
