Subaru Impreza STI 22B
This car found it's way to the shop one night. Oh yeah. It was really cool. Mike W
1/12/00This car was on loan to Sport Compact car magazine at the time and we didn't want to rat them out for letting a bunch of Eclipse punks take some pics and post them to the web before it came out in the magazine. We specialize in Mitsubishi Eclipses only, we do not have any Subaru parts available. This car is not licensable in the US with out bending several federal laws. We do not know how to import them ( can you tell I get a lot of e-mail about this?) For now, check out our friend Mike Shields at SPD USA for Impreza parts. We are building an Impreza GRC (Gentleman's Rally Car he calls it) for Bruce Brown to rally next year in the California Rally Series. He has been running a Mazda 323 GTX. He wanted something with some more power but still sit upright. That ruled out our favorite the Eclipse GSX, he also voted no on the Galant VR-4 because it is kind of long. Impreza ! He bought a 96 1.8 2WD plain Jane stripped model. He is working with Mike Shields to get the cool WRX front body work, We are putting on the brakes, rear end and suspension from the Legacy. We have built the roll cage and are working on making it AWD at this time. We are new to Subarus so we are not answering an tech questions on the conversions. For now we are bolting on what ever parts that we are handed and are on the earn-as-you-learn plan for this. Bruce is deciding on weather to import a WRX motor or build a turbo motor out of parts here in the US. 9/00 The car is up and running.Bruce finished 4th in 4WD Open Class at his first rally in Gorman California. We are running it in Prescott next. |
