Road Race was excited to get involved with Mitsubishi Owner’s Day once again.
We hosted the dyno contest for the day, and were running cars on and off the dyno the whole time.
RRE Family driver Coco Zurita was in the booth, signing autographs and talking to fans all day, alongside RRE model Erica Ocampo. There was a little something for everybody, and we stayed busy all day.
Thanks again to our sponsors Turbo by Garrett and Turbosmart for helping us out with awesome raffle prizes!
To kick off the partnership with Jet Black Racing and JemFX, we invited model Erica Ocampo and photographer Fernando Escovar to the shop to get some awesome promotional shots of the Jet Black Racing/JemFX car, and support some of our sponsors, Lucas Oil.
It was an early morning, but it was all worth it. Erica showed us all the power of a good energy drink!
The guys got in on the action, and Fernando was able to get some awesome shots.
We’ll be using some of the shots to create a poster for MOD, so if you’re headed to Mitsubishi Owners Day, be sure to swing by and pick one up. Erica will be there to sign posters and take plenty of pictures.
Long time RRE customer Nic sent me a pic of his personalized Indiana license plate with the RRE plate frame on it. I asked for a little more info on the car and Nic sent me this:

Gary from Motegi Racing asked us to use the shop after hours to shoot some pics for their upcoming calendar and FD Posters. Ummm…. sure! Dont have to ask us twice! :-) Olivia Korte (Rockstar Energy Drink girls) was in front of the camera with makeup and hair by Elfie Simon. Watching Aaron Okayama with the setup, shooting and lighting was a treat. Oh yeah, there was a car, almost forgot. Looking back at the video I guess it was blue or something.
A cold and rainy day couldn’t stop us from having fun at the Nitto Tire Auto Enthusiast Day held at the California Speedway this weekend. Warm clothes, great music by Jarod De Anda (Voice of FD) helped us to keep our spirits up make the best of the weather :-) . It was great to support all our friends (rain or shine). RRE model Ashley Clark braved the wind and cold to help us out.
We had Roy’s Godzilla GTR, Coco Zurita’s EVO X, Matt Dennison’s EVO 9 all on display. Also From Rob Tallini’s RRM next door we had the Fiat Abarth for people to check out and of course the RRM Jeep Rubicon on hand incase the weather got out of control!
Here is a nice video about the details of Dr Alex’s EVO 6 Varis Wide Body SEMA project that we had in the Zeitronix display at SEMA 2013 in Las Vegas. Next up for the car is some track shakedown over the winter months.

We’ve been helping out Chilean BMX racer/freestylist and X Games star Coco Zurita for a couple years now since we found him with some melted brake pads at California Speedway with his EVO X. He and his car have been steadily getting faster and faster over the last couple years since them. Coco’s good friend JC Pieri shot some cool video blending his two passions. His EVO and his bike riding into a movie short. This was shot over two days here at RRE, Downtown LA and at Woodward West where Coco mentors and trains. Enjoy!
Here are some pics of the work that we are getting started on here. Varis carbon wide body kit, Stoptech Trophy Brakes need some bigger wheels so that means we’ll need a wider body and chassis clearance. The interior will get new seats and a full detailing. The car already hit the dyno for a retune after the motor was all broken in.
Before Pic (remember this skinny little plain EVO 6 so you can compare it to the finished monster)
All stripped down.

Coco Zurita is one of the top ranked big air freestyle BMX racers in the world, aspiring time attack driver in his EVO 8… but also seems to be quite the photographer! We did a few upgrades and repairs to his EVO while Coco was at the X-Games in Brazil. He picked up the car when he got back from Brazil and got these pics towing home to Tehachapi.

Pictures by tons of different random people (but all the best ones are taken by David Karey because he actually knows what all the knobs and buttons on a DSLR do).
Rossy had an idea to get a bunch of people together for a toy drive to benefit the kids at City of Hope in time for Christmas. The result went WAY beyond expectations. The event was a huge success. There were a bunch of DSMs, EVOs, some drift cars and even one STi that showed up. Also, Joon Maeng was on hand signing autographs while his car was filled to the brim with toys that he and Rossy
Another MOD and another great event as usual. We brought cars, the RRE Girls, the RRE Dynapack AWD Dyno Contest, parts displays, shade, robots, a kid’s play area and more shade for the July heat. We teamed up with our partners Road Race Motorsports and Zeitronix to fill out the Road Race Pavilion with non stop action.
We pulled out all the stops this year. Rossy scored a coup and got Danielle Lo and Erica Ocampo from two of our recent DSPORT cover cars along with our regular RRE models Holly Lee and Michele Yee to come out.
Danielle and Erica were signing magazine covers of their respective shoots with Ben Denkers’ red EVO 8 RS and Tim Smith’s blue EVO X.
For now, I’ll just let the pics speak for themselves :-)

Road Race Engineering teamed up with Mr Ticket and went to Hot Import Nights at Pomona Fairplex recently. This was the first HIN event of the year and we brought the RRE 4G Eclipse GT as well as Tim Smith’s EVO X GSR which won second place in the four door class competition. Tim’s GSR was recently featured in DSport Magazine. RRE model Natalia Marie was with us to keep the peace and deal out a little street justice where necessary.

I have been buried for a few months but just before things went nuts with work and life, I got a chance to update my stealthy street/track EVO VIII. My goal with this car is to have a car that does not get too much attention from unwanted parties and is streetable with a tad of blingage but can still be more than fun to drive to the track, drive on the track and drive home from the track.
OEM IX front bumper with SE lip and Ganador Super Mirrors.
Rossy took the RRE race cars to the LA Convention center for a night out this last weekend. The shop EVO 8 and 4G Eclipse got a lot of attention as always :-)
A Euro magazine sent Jay Canter to the shop recently to get some pics of our shop EVO 8 race car. We went to the closed refinery down Lakeland Rd asked if we could get in to take some pics with the freaky background. With a little begging and a lot of convincing that we wouldnt be doing donuts and generally causing a hazmat response – we got in. After we took some beauty shots, we ran the car through Turnbull Canyon for some driving shots with the car moving.
Looking forward to see how it turns out. I can shoot over the shoulder of these pro photographers all I want and… well with them being professionals and all, my pics look amateur for some reason :-P
Here are my point and shoot pics:
RRE’s tuner Scot Gray is dialing up the cute on his built motor. We had his valve cover and intake manifold gloss black. We topped off the valve cover with the RRE Hot Dog Grille plug wire cover in brushed aluminum finish. With what we learned from when Justin powder coated his valve cover last year, we made sure nothing got inside the valve cover when it got sand blasted to clean it up. The intake manifold also got a thorough cleaning inside before installing it.
Scot picked up a carbonfiber hood from Carbontrix next door. Carbontrix also set him up with one of our hood scoops in carbon. We cut it into the hood to grab the hot air coming off the radiator and turbo just ahead of the valve cover.
