RRE @ Extreme Autofest

We teamed up with Road Race Motorsports next door this last weekend and went out to the Extreme Autofest at Angels Anaheim Stadium. It was an eclectic mix of JDM style tooner cars, low riders, hot rods, gymkhana and off road vehicles. RRM brought out their rock crushing Jeep to show off along with their turboed Lancer.

Our RRE model for the day was the beautiful Raquel Estrella (she’s the one on the right, that is Tim on the left)

With a little help from the  RRE crew in the audience, Raquel won 2nd place in the bikini contest. Full photo gallery with more pics

DSMs Still Alive and Kicking

So I got chastised the other day for not getting a DSM on the schedule quick enough. The customer implied that maybe we were too busy fixing the newer foo-foo EVOs and taking all their money to be able to get his lowly 2G Eclipse into the shop. :-/ So I took a lap around the shop to see what could be the  problem. Turns out that there were nine 2Gs in the shop that day keeping us busy. It was his fellow 2Gs blocking his way!

I think we are one of the few shops that still specializes in the 1G and 2G Eclipse. Keeping it real and keeping to our roots :-) Just try not to break them faster than we can fix them.

LEET Roll Cage Build – Part 1

With all the 600 whp mods Ben has lately, he felt it was time to step up the safety from a bolt-in Autopower 4 point roll bar to a full cage. Here is the transformation:

The first step was to gut the interior. Everything that could be unbolted was unbolted. The dash comes out, carpet, seats, door panels, headliner, wiring and more.

Bryce was enlisted to help. Anything with a Phillips head screw was his responsibility.

Next is to clean and strip any caulking and paint or undercoating where the base plates will get welded into the chassis. We used 1.75″ diameter .120 wall Read the rest of this page »

RRE x Alliance Mega Meat/Meet

Words and Photos by James Singer

There was a meet at RRE on May 19th.  Did you sleep on it?  Good.  More raffle prizes and food for us!!  There were a bunch of cool people at this meet and a bunch of people that won TWICE on the raffle!!  St8 even took home a Zeitronix!!  Alliance Represent!!  Even the ever elusive Dr. Scot Gray was mingling.  It was a day of free fooooood and $25 dyno pulls.  The only thing that bothered people was some weird dude in a smurf blue RTR lurking, so we made him leave. See the super pro art photos after the break!!

Super True Stories From The Track [part II]

Part I is here.

Prep

[it isn’t the camera, it is rosacea]

I am a pretty average guy as far as driving cars on the track goes.  I am also a pretty average guy in the sense that this economy has taken its toll on my ability to indulge in track days.  As a result, I prep my car painstakingly before going to the track to avoid breaks and other disasters.  This month, before going to the track I changed out my blown Read the rest of this page »

Extremespeed AWD Competition – Willow Springs – Round #2

Well the second round of the Extremespeed AWD Challenge is done and in the books. We ran the tighter Streets Of Willow Springs clockwise with a great turnout. A lot of people felt the track a little off, maybe it was the heat, maybe it was the wind. With no record setting times to be had everyone made the best of what they had to deal with.

Gevorg had the best ride with his big off. The car was fine other than one wheel beign pretty well done in. He borrowed some stock wheels from Zhong, ran back to LA and picked up some spare wheels and tires to finish the day. His best time for the morning was his best for the day and good for 3rd place. Ben Sui had a great day and was 1st in Street Class. Nate;s MR was fixed up from his exhaust leak issues from the last event and earned a close 2nd place finish.
